In the first game of the day, UCLA 'B' was unable to pull out the win against UCSB 'B', as they fell 13-9 in a hard fought contest.

#6 UCLA 'A' put the pressure on early and jumped out to a 4-0 lead against #7 UCSB 'A' less than 4 minutes into the game.  Following a UCSB timeout, the Bruins pushed their lead to 7-1 with 12 minutes left in the half.  UCLA's early dominance was led by their ability to grab the draw, as they won the first 8 draw controls of the game with midfielder Sam Fletcher at center.  The score at halftime was 9-4 in favor of UCLA.  The Bruins continued to push the pace following the break, as they opened up a 16-7 with 10 minutes remaining in the game.  The Gauchos were able to close the game with 5 consecutive goals, but UCLA sealed up the four goal victory 16-12.

The victory was a total team effort from the Bruins, as they pulled out the first UCLA win over UCSB since 2004. The defense was led by upperclassmen Sharon Woo and Teryn Bence with great 1v1 defense to slow down the Gaucho attack.  Midfield play was dominated by Fletcher (8 DC, 70% draws won, 2 G), Molly Tracy (5 DC, 5 CTO, 4 GB), and Kristin Alexander (4 DC, 2 G) to give the Bruins numerous opportunities on the offensive end.  Chloe Silance (4 G, 2 A) and Emma Dudley (3 G) stood out in a balanced, dynamic UCLA attack, which at times scored at will against UCSB.  The win brings UCLA to 9-1 overall and 1-1 in the WWLL Central, with only a conference game against USC remaining on April 12.

Both Bruins teams return to action next weekend, Saturday March 15 at UCLA before taking a two week break for finals and spring break.  UCLA 'A' will face San Diego State at 10am, while UCLA 'B' takes on Concordia University in a scrimmage at 12pm.
