Jul. 19, 2011
To follow up the end of the 2011 spring season, the Texas Tech Men’s Lacrosse team met at Golden Corral for an end of season team dinner. While discussing improvements to be made for the 2012 season, Coach Andrew Widmer announced his retirement from Texas Tech Lacrosse. Coach Widmer has been a part of Texas Tech Lacrosse for more years than any of us players can remember; and his retirement from the team is bitter-sweet and he will be missed. With Coach Widmer’s retirement, Justin Castle and Matt Davis (two former players) will be taking on the coaching position. The team will also be returning 15 players.
Along with these announcements officer elections took place as well as team awards (as follows).
President: Michael Wayne
Vice President: Monty Gumble
Treasurer: Preston Munson
Secretary: Zach Johnson
Rookie Coordinators: Keegan Martin and Luke Erwin
MVP: Bart Jameson
Offensive MVP: Neil Gordon
Defensive MVP: Gavin Carr
Team Heart: Monty Gumble
Most Improved: Luke Erwin
Rookie of the Year: Kyle Kuras
In preparation for the Fall-Ball season the team will be participating in the annual Hotter n’ Hell tournament, this year held in Austin, TX from September 3rd to 4th. New players are welcome to play. More information for the tournament is still to come.
If you are an incoming freshmen, a transferring student, a Tech student who wants to just pick up the stick and ball again, or a new player wanting to get into the great game of Lacrosse please contact team President Michael Wayne at firstname.lastname@example.org or Coach Justin Castle at email@example.com . We hope to see you out on the field!
