After a thriller against Texas the night before, the Red Raiders earned their first win of the season against the defending LSA-B Champion Southwestern University in Georgetown. Article from Southwestern Lacrosse.

TECH ROLLS AND SU FLAT AS A PANCAKE IN 13-2 LOSS

Georgetown, TX -- On Saturday the Bucs hosted the young and talented Texas Tech squad, a team they haven't played in over 5 years. Tech was looking for its first win after a close loss the night before against Texas and a loss in the season opener against high powered A&M.

Southwestern, on the other hand had come off two convincing wins in conference play.

Tech came out fired up and was relentless with their play on both sides of the field, while the Bucs were, to say the least playing without any emotion whatsoever and generally uninspired lacrosse. When you couple that with the way things went on the field that day, it meant total domination by Tech in about every facet of the game.

Tech came out early and went up 4-0 before Irish got us on the board in a wrap around the crease shot, or so we thought. S.U. had gained a little momentum, and this was a step in the right direction. However one of the obligatory stick checks revealed that although fixable, Irish's stick was deemed illegal and the goal disallowed.

This deflated any signs of life the Bucs had the rest of the day. They were out-hustled all over the field, were flat footed on both offense and defense, and lets face it, generally did not come to play against a very good team, and it showed. Tech had three shots that reflected off either our players or our sticks that went in, and many more balls that found their way into the sticks of Tech in unsettled situations. In a game like that, Tech simply outplayed the Bucs in every facet. S.U. only took 13 shots the entire game, refusing to shoot on some of the looks that were given to them. The Bucs did not score until late in the second half, both scores tallied by Webb.

Tech is a class act and we only wish we would have been able to give them a better game than we did. We appreciate them making the trip down to play us and wish them the best of luck in the rest of their season.
