Alumni Fall in Impressive Comeback
Oct. 8, 2007
The 2007 Red Raider Alumni Classic was a huge success and an exciting display of lacrosse talent of old and new.
On Saturday, October 8th, the Texas Tech Men's Lacrosse team faced off against their greatest rivals of all, the Texas Tech Lacrosse Alumni. The Alumni fell to an early deficit of 2-0 early in the first quarter due to impressive scoring from the Red Raider attack unit. The Alumni team quickly came back and built up a 5-2 lead, which was slimmed down to 5-3 going into the half.
With the homecoming parade in the background, the young Red Raiders regrouped and implemented their new offensive package going into the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter, the Alumni team trailed by a score of 9-7. Undaunted, however, the Alumni unit looked to continue their winning streak following last weekend's LSA Alumni tournament championship in Plano, TX, and narrowed the score to within one goal. With a well-executed offense in play, in addition to impressive ball control and clock management, the Red Raiders pulled out the win over the Alumni team with a final score of 11-8.
Thanks to all the fans, parents, and alumni who were in attendance for the event!!!
The Red Raiders reclaimed the title from last year's loss the the Alumni team, and now are looking forward to a matchup against the Southlake Cobras. The Cobras look to be a tough matchup for the Red Raiders, as many former Red Raiders now play for the Cobras and will look to put up a win against the Red Raiders for the second year in a row.
