Texas Tech defeated the MCLA Division B #11 Ft. Lewis College Skyhawks, 21-8, on Friday, February 16th here in Lubbock, TX.

The evening started out great for a Friday night game under the lights. There was a great fan turn-out and conditions couldn't have been better. Fans and players alike were caught off guard, however, as Lubbock's notorious wind kicked up early in the third quarter, dropping the temperature dramatically. Despite the windy conditions, Tech continued the game just as it had started, and pulled out a solid victory against the Skyhawks.

Once again, Tech was heavily penalized throughout the game. The defense held up very well in the various man-down situations, and even set up a few man down goals for the offense. Strong play by goalies Landon Ludlow and Bart Jameson eliminated most of the offensive threat posed by the Skyhawks, and helped set up thier own offense with great clearing and communication in transition.

Offensively, Tech was lead by Sophmore midfielder Clayton Schneider. Clayton's impressive faceoff performance helped set him up for most of his seven goal tally on the evening. The attack unit, lead again by Sophmore Bryce Wolf, helped account for a combined ten goals and six assists.

At midfield, the action was lead by Junior Joe Wells and Senior Ben Brenners, who set up two give and go goals between each other. Joe put up four goals and an assist, while Ben came out with three assists. Matt Davis, Waverly Johnson, and Robbie Rice also contributed to the effort, each with points themselves.

LSM's Dan Sisneros and Charlie Langdon played a huge factor in keeping the ball in the offensive zone, with several impressive clears and great play in transition.

This was a great game for the Red Raiders, as everyone got in on the action and contributed to a well-balanced team effort that helped the team get things back together after a tough loss to Texas A&M last week in College Station.

The Red Raiders will now have a three-week break from competition as they prepare for Oklahoma State University on March 10th, and a three-game trip to Seattle versus Rhode Island, Washington, and Simon Fraser University, which will follow shortly after.

Be sure to mark your calendars for March 10th, as the Red Raider's match against Oklahoma State will be the team's last home game of the 2007 season!
