Ben began his lacrosse career at Plano East Senior High in Plano, TX. There, he served as a three year captain, achieved all-district and all-state honors for attack, played on the TX-DII North All-Star team, and set the single-season scoring record putting up 67 goals and 27 assists in only his sophomore year.

Continuing onwards to Texas Tech, his role as an attackman was changed to midfield where he saw excellent playing time providing crash on face-offs and during settled clear situations. His sophomore season as a Red Raider, Ben continued as a midfielder moving to alternating second and third line midfield. It was in this season that Ben was a part of the LSA Championship team (2005) where he went on to get excellent experience at the USL-MDIA National Championships in Blaine, MN.

After a one-semester hiatus from Texas Tech where Ben attended and played lacrosse for the University of Miami, in addition to coaching at South Florida's well-known Gulliver Prep School, Ben returned to Texas Tech for the Spring of 2006 where he rejoined the team and helped them complete a perfect in-conference regular season schedule, although eventually losing to UT in a 4th quarter come-from-behind heart breaker at the 2006 LSA Championship. In his last season playing for the Red Raiders, Ben served as a captain and the team president, as well as fulfilling a role on the first line of midfield and in man-down situations.

Now Ben will serve as the coordinator for the explosive Red Raider offense; following in the coaching footsteps of Tech Lacrosse greats, Stewart Shaw and Marc Anderson. With the coaching staff led by the legendary LSA long-stick midfielder Andrew Widmer, Ben hopes to contribute to what he hopes will be the most successful season in Tech Lacrosse history!

Coach Brenners is also undertaking his first ever role as a head coach with the Texas Tech Women's lacrosse team.

In addition to his coaching duties, Ben serves as the team's External Vice President and currently is the President of the Texas Tech Sport Clubs Federation Executive Council.
