SOU Defeats Willamette to Improve to 5-2 for the Season
SOU Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Willamette University Bearcats on Saturday. After 3 weeks on the road SOU was glad to be home for a game. SOU started out fast scoring their first goal just 37 seconds into the game as Senior Captain #3 Wyatt Knight found a cutting #13 Tom Halley to go up 1-0. SOU struck again on the ensuing face-off as # Max Raynor found an open #18 AJ Chase to make the score 2-0. SOU would shut out WU in the 1st and added 6 more goals to make the score 8-0 after one qt. SOU tallied 5 goals in the 2nd to WU's 2 goals to lead 13-2 at the half. SOU opened the 3rd w/ 3 straight goals until WU answered. Each team traded a goal after that making the score 17-4 going into the final qt. SOU shut out WU in the 4th and put 4 more goals in to make the final 21-4. SOU only committed one penalty in the game which was a nice change after spending a lot of time in the box to start the season. Game ball went to Sr. Captain #42 Joey Moseanko for holding the PNCLL D2 leading scorer from WU #4 to just one goal. Hats off to Willamette who played the game with only one substitute player. Their team never quit and never stopped playing hard. SOU is off next week and then heads to LA to take on Biola Sunday March 25th at 7pm.
