SOU Defeats Humboldt in OTFeb. 17, 2012 SOU moves to 2-1 on the season with a 10-9 defeat of Humboldt St. Univ. SOU controlled the first period scoring 5 goals before Humboldt took a shot to lead 5-0 after the first. SOU seemed to get back on their bus for the next 40 minutes, not to take anything away from Humboldt, as Humboldt outplayed the Raiders for the next two+ qt.s. At the half the score was 6-4 in favor of SOU. The 3rd qt. belonged to Humboldt outscoring the Raiders 4-0 w/ 2 EMO goals. SOU committed 10 penalty's in the game but the MDD was solid only allowing 2 goals. Humboldt struck first in the final period to go up 9-6. From then on it was all Raiders as SOU scored 3 un-answered capped off by #4 Max Raynor w/ about 1 and 1/2 minutes to go to tie the game. Freshman Goalie Killian Spicer-Torreblanca came up with a huge MDD save to help send the game to OT. Humboldt won the OT F/O but SOU was able to force a turnover. SOU scored the game winner as So. #22 Nick Perry found an open Sr. Captain #11 Sean McQuown who scored the game winner. Hats off to Humboldt. Their team has come a long way in a short time and they should make the WCLL playoffs. Thanks for having us. Next up for the Raiders is Pacific University on Saturday in Arcata, CA.
