SOU defeated Willamette 14-4 Saturday in Salem, OR.   SOU scored the first goal of the game on our 2nd EMO opportunity as #11 McQuown found an open #3 Knight who buried the shot.  The play from both teams was sloppy to start the game w/ many un-forced TO's.  The sloppy play led to many unsettled scoring opportunities which SOU capitalized on for their 2nd goal as #44 Cooper found #2 Verdun after a failed clear by WU.  The next two goals came off solid individual efforts as #2 Verdun and #4 Raynor scored on dodges from up top.  The final score in the qt. came from #4 again as #3 Knight found him open on the back side making the score 5-0 after the first.

Willamette got on the board w/ an unassisted goal as #3 drove from X and executed a nice inside roll.  SOU would answer as #21 Cooper found #42 Moseanko making the count 6-1.  Sr. #14 Gregg scored next for SOU w/ a nice dodge from up top followed by excellent shot placement.  #5 answered for WU making the count 7-2 followed by another goal from #3 for WU.  SOU answered w/ 2 goals of our own from #21 Cooper off of a fast break followed by another unsettled situation goal as #3 Knight found #11 McQuown open in front of the cage.  9-3 at the half.

Neither team would score in the 3rd qt. as both teams seemed to be out of sync.

SOU scored the first four goals of the 4th starting w/ two nice unassisted goals by #3 Knight and #4 Raynor.  #50 McNeal would follow that up with his first goal of the day fed by #11 McQuown on a fast break making the score 12-3.  #21 Cooper scored again for SOU on a wing dodge.  WU scored their final goal on an EMO play as #4 fed #10 who placed his shot well.  The final goal of the game came off a successful ride from SOU as Sr. #00 Hughes was able to lead a fast break and find an open #50 McNeal who buried the shot.

The real highlight of the game was the standout play of Sr. defensemen #18 Jack Pfieffer who held WU's leading scorer #4 Ian McAnnis-Enteman without a goal.  Prior to our game Ian had avg. 8 ppg but was held to just one assist on EMO.  Game ball= Jack Pfieffer.

Next up for the Raiders is a home game on Saturday 4/9 vs the College of Idaho at 1pm.
