SOU Falls to #20 North Dakota St.Mar. 17, 2011 SOU lost to the #20 team in the MCLA D-2 Wednesday by the score of 7-6. SOU had a very gutsy performance on Wednesday playing a 34 man team in NDSU w/ only 12 guys able to play for SOU. Sr. midfielder #14 Nate Gregg started on close defense for the Raiders whom were w/o their regular starting D-pole #5 Jarrod Moroni. Nate played solid all day in his role for the day. SOU was also w/o 2 time PNCLL 1st All-League LSM who suffered a moderate concussion in the game vs. Whitman on Saturday. SOU did a good job controlling the ball and playing solid team defense in the first to lead 3-2 after the first. The second qt. was back and forth w/ both teams only able to score once making the count 4-3 at the half. NDSU played w/ a very aggressive 10 man ride that gave SOU some problems in the clearing game. The third qt. was even again w/ both teams scoring twice to make the score 6-5 going into the 4th. Neither team scored in the first 12 minutes of the 4th until NDSU was able to capitalize on our short bench. Fatigue had obviously set in to the Raiders legs and NDSU scored twice in the last 3 minutes of the game w/ both goals being scored in transition. Sr. Goalie #7 Carter Boggess had another solid day in the cage recording 13 saves. He also almost scored a goal vs. NDSU's 10 man ride but his shot went a bit wide of the cage. #4 Max Raynor, #2 Pat Verdun, and #42 Joey Moseanko each contributed 2 points in the game to lead the Raiders offense. Hats off to the Bison and thanks for making the long journey out west.
