SOU Downs Alumni 13-6
Our first ever Alumni Game was a blast. The current SOU team jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead w/ goals by Jr. #42 Joey Moseanko and Jr. Captain #2 Pat Verdun. The Alumni team then rallied scoring four straight goals. Alumni Ty Baumann started the scoring for the Alumni and was followed by Randall Welles, and two goals by Nick Reiten. The current team answered w/ a nice dodge by Freshman Tyler Swanson to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Alumni. Jr. Max Reynor struck next for the current team to tie the game at 4. Freshman Nick Perry scored the go ahead goal for SOU. Alumni Jameson Whitehead tied the game at 5 w/ a rip from 20 yards out. Joey Moseanko scored again for SOU followed by another goal from Max Reynor on a nice feed by captain #11 Sean McQuown. Jameson scored again just before halftime to make the score 7-6 in favor of the current team at the break. The second half was dominated by the current team holding the Alumni scoreless for the entire half. #11 Sean McQuown opened the 2nd half scoring on a feed from #42 Joey Moseanko. Freshman Justin Cooper then scored for SOU on a nice dodge from the wing. #2 Verdun scored again for the current team on and EMO play assisted by #11 McQuown. Jr. Attack Wyatt Knight found the back of the net on another feed from #11 to make the score 11-6. #42 Moseanko and #2 Verdun ended the scoring on a nice feed from #4 Max Reynor making the final 13-6. A big thanks goes out to all of the Alumni that traveled to Ashland to make this game possible. The Alumni put a #43 on the field to honor our former player and friend Scott Charlson who died two years ago in a helicopter crash while fighting fires in CA. The Godfather of SOU Lacrosse Kyle Chrisman made all of this possible, THANK YOU!!
