SOU Loses in League Semi-Finals
SOU took on the #1 seeded Western Washington Vikings Saturday at Summit HS in Bend, OR. WWU would strike first taking a quick 1-0 lead. SOU answered back w/ two goals of our own to take a 2-1 lead. WWU was able to score again to make the game tied after the 1st qt. at 2-2. The 2nd qt. was similar to the first in that it was a back and forth battle. SOU was able to outscore the Vikings 2-1 in the 2nd to take a 4-3 lead into the half. Neither team was able to score in the 3rd but WWU really started to control the game. SOU was unable to have any sustained offensive possessions in the 3rd which led to us playing too much defense. SOU led 4-3 going into the final qt. The 4th qt. showed how much defense we played in the 3rd as we simply ran out of gas. WWU controlled the ball and forced many TO's. WWU was able to score 5 times in the 4th to win the game 8-4. While it was a disappointing loss SOU never quit and showed tremendous heart. Congrats to the Vikings.
