SOU Drops Two Games at HomeApr. 18, 2010 SOU concluded their regular season this weekend hosting Western Oregon and UC-Santa Cruz. SOU took on two top 20 teams in WOU and UCSC. First up was our league rivals in WOU. The first qt. was marked by extremely sloppy play for SOU on offense w/ too many TO's. Our defense did well keeping us in the game only allowing one goal by WOU. WOU really dominated the midfield play and was able to outscore SOU 4-1 in the 2nd to take a 5-1 lead at the half. SOU was never able to get our offense going but our defense held strong in the 3rd only giving up 2 goals while we scored once making it 7-2 going into the 4th. We finally gained some momentum in the 4th scoring 2 quick goals cutting the lead to 8-4 for WOU. WOU wisely took a timeout. Unfortunately we fell apart in the final 4 minutes of the game by committing 6 penalities. WOU was able to capatilize scoring 5 times in the last 2 and 1/2 minutes to make the final 13-4. On Sunday SOU hosted UCSC for the first time. This game was a serious battle for 3 qts. At the end of the first it was 2-2, at half UCSC led 3-2, and going into the 4th qt. they led 4-3. #7 Carter Boggess had a huge day in goal recording 22 saves to keep SOU in the game. In the 4th our legs gave out on us and Santa Cruz took advantage scoring the last 5 goals of the game. SOU ends the regular season at 6-6. SOU will host Central Washington Univ. next Saturday in the first round of the PNCLL playoffs.
