SOU Wins 3rd In A RowMar. 14, 2010 SOU defeated PLU on Sunday in Tacoma, WA by the score of 12-1. The win was the 3rd in a row for SOU and improves the teams record to 4-3 on the season. SOU started out fast scoring just minutes into the opening period as Sr. Attack #1 Ty Baumann drove from X to his left and found a cutting #2 Patrick Verdun who one-timed it past the PLU goalie. SOU would score shortly after that goal as #2 led a fast break and found an open #6 Bubba VanEgdom who barried the shot. The final goal of the period was scored by Freshman #22 Tom Halley after recieving a nice skip pass feed from #6. SOU controlled the time of possession but was still outshot by PLU in the first 5-4. Jr. Goalie #7 Carter Boggess made 4 saves in the quarter to keep the Lutes off of the board. 3-0 after one. The first goal of the 2nd period was the same scoring duo of the first as #1 found #2 again. #3 Stephen Davenport scored off the ensuing face-off as #6 found him wide open 8 yards in front of the cage. #6 scored shortly after on a nice iso move to make the game 6-0 just 4 minutes into the 2nd. PLU took a timeout and made some adjustments which were efffective as they kept us from scoring any more in the 2nd even though we controlled the ball for the majority of the qt. PLU's short bench w/ only 3 subs really started to show in the 3rd period as SOU outshot PLU 14-3 in the qt. SOU was able to put 5 goals in with 2 unassisted goals by #6, two goas by #22 (one unassisted one assisted from #11), and one unassisted goal by #1. SOU led 11-0 after 3. SOU's final goal came in the 4th on an EMO play that #22 was able to bury. PLU scored late in the game to avoid the shut out. SOU played solid team ball all day and the entire squad got to see lots of playing time. As always, PLU were great hosts and a fun group to play. Next up for SOU is St.Marys (WCLL-D2) at home on 3/27 at 1pm.
