SOU took on Westminster College (RMLC-D2) on Sunday at Lake Oswego HS.

Both teams started slow w/ un-forced TO's on each teams 1st possession.  SOU got an EMO chance on our 2nd possession but shot the ball wide and failed to have it backed up.  WC scored on their next possession when #2 Condas drove to his left and our slide was too late.  WC earned a EMO opp. on their next possession and cashed in on a 15 yard rip to go up 2-0.  WU capitalized on their ensuing possession at 7:27 in the qt. as SOU got lost on defense leaving a man wide open.  That would be all of the scoring for the 1st.  Shot placement killed us again as we failed to put one shot on cage in the first.

The 2nd started w/ a mental lapse on our defense as we forced a WC middie to his dominant  hand and he buried it making the score 4-0.  WC would score again on a nice dodge which drew a slide, WC made a nice pass to where our 2nd slide was coming from leading to an easy goal.   SOU would score the next three goals, one in transition, and two on EMO opps. to pull within 2 at 5-3.  WU scored next on a loose ball in front of our cage for another easy goal.  WU made it 7-3 on a nice dodge from up top followed by a skip pass to the door step.  SOU would have 4 golden opportunities in the remaining minutes of the half but were unable to capitalize as the WU goalie made some nice saves and our shot placement wasn't the best.

WC scored on 5 of 7 shots on goal in the 3rd while SOU only scored on 1 of 4.  This put the game out of reach going into the 4th but SOU showed good heart and never quit.  SOU finally improved our shot placement in the 4th putting 8 of our 13 shots on cage scoring on 4 of those shots.   Unfortunately WC scored on 3 of their 5 shots on goal to make the final score 15-8.

SOU showed glimpses of our potential this weekend even though we lost both games to quality opponents.  SOU will only improve from these games.  The character of this team will be shown next weekend vs another quality opponent in Montana St (RMLC-2).
