
SOU moves to 11-1 on year by defeating Dominican 11-6Apr. 10, 2009 Dominican will be a NCAA varsity D2 next year so this game was a huge test for the Raiders. SOU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead w/ #6 VanEgdom controlling the face-off X again. Dominican was able to cut the lead to 2 w/ the score 4-2 after the first. SOU controlled the 2nd period only allowing an EMO goal for Dominican while scoring 3 of our own to lead at the half 7-3. Dominican came out fired-up to start the 2nd half and was able to bring the game w/n two w/ a score of 8-6 in favor of the Raiders w/ just under 5 minutes to go in the 3rd. From then on it was all Raiders as SOU did not allow another goal for the rest of the game and put in 3 more to make the final 11-6. SOU was led by Sr. captain #29 Zach Baumann in goal for the first time since our 3rd game of the season due to a broken thumb, Zach recorded 11 saves on the day. Jr. Captain #6 Bubba VanEgdom also led the way by winning close to 90% of the face-offs he took and scoring 5 goals. Game ball went to sophmore #3 Stephen Davenport for his GB play, clearing, solid defense and leadership on midfield offense scoring 1 goal and handing out 1 assist. Here's to you Scotty!
