SOU moves to 4-0 for the season
SOU defeated the University of Nevada-Reno on Friday night 14-6. SOU jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first led by our attack which ended up scoring all of our goals. Jr. #6 "Bubba" VanEgdom led the way w/ 6 goals and one assist while also taking 11 of the 14 face-offs that he was in for. Jr. Attack #24 Ty Baumann added 5 goals and 3 assists while #20 Alex White contributed 3g and 2a. So. #3 Stephen Davenport dished out 2 assists while freshman #9 handed out 1 assist to finish out the scoring. At the half the score was 8-2. Jr. back-up goalie #13 Greg Morelli played the entire game as our starting goalie #29 Zach Baumann was out due to injury. Greg played exceptionally well making 7 first qt. saves, 4 in the 2nd, and 16 overall. Our EMO was solid again scoring on 3 of 4 opportunities. UNR was a physical team and the game became a bit chippy towards the end. We finished the game 3 men up due to personal fouls (non-releasable) but opted to just hold the ball, secure the win, and not add to the hositility. UNR were great hosts all weekend!
