Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Feb. 22, 2009

SOU defeated the College of Idaho Saturday by the score of 20-11 to move to 2-0 on the year.

The win improves SOU to 2-0 (2-0 in league) on the season.  SOU had 10 goal scorers for the first time in history.  #6 Bubba VanEgdom continued to dominate face-offs winning 15/19 draws.  Our starting EMO unit went 7/7 while our MDD unit was 4/6.  13 of our 20 goals were assisted which speaks to the level of team ball being played.  #9 Wyatt Knight and #2 Patrick Verdum scored their first collegiate goals while #7 Mike Hughes and #14 Nate Gregg scored their first goals of the season.

Freshman #15 Forrest Brooks scored 4 goals and dished out one assist.  Game ball goes to Jr. attack man #24 Tyler Baumann who scored 3 goals and fed for 6 assists.

The score was 7-6 a couple of minutes into the 3rd period when we went on a 13-0 run.  Everybody saw lots of playing time and it was a solid performance all around.

Hats off to C of I and especially #4 Colin Burke.  He proved that he should be in contention as an all-league goal-tender as well as an all-league attack man.

Here's to you #43 Scott Charlson!!!
