SOU 2009 Roster and Captains

SOU is pleased to announce their roster and captains for the upcoming 2009 season.    SOU will be returning two captains from last season: Sr. Attack #20 Alex White and Jr. Attack #6 Bubba Van Egdom. 

Alex White is SOU's all-time leading points scorer with 158 career points.  A. White has been a starter every year since he joined the team.  Alex poses many problems for opposing defenders and will lead our offense again this year.

Bubba Van Egdom was in the top ten for scoring in the PNCLL in only is 2nd year of playing lacrosse last season.  Bubba was a standout wrestler in high school and has made the transition to lacrosse very smoothly.

The other captains will be Jr. Defenseman #17 Joe Robert, Sr. Goalie #29 Zach Baumann, and So. Midfielder #11 Sean McQuown.  

Joe Robert has big shoes to fill as two time All-American Dan Snell has graduated.  Joe has been with SOU since 2006 but was red-shirted that year (medically) as he only played in two games before suffering a season ending injury.  Joe has started on close D the last two years and will lead the close D this year.  Joe was an honorable mention PNCLL player last year. 

Zach Baumann was on the original SOU team in 2005 as an attack man.  Zach left the team for 06 but re-joined in 07.  Zach has played attack, midfield, LSM, and goalie in his time with the raiders.  Zach won the "Un-sung hero" award for SOU last year. 

Sean McQuown is only in his 2nd year with the Raiders but still earned the right to be a captain via his intensity, positive outlook, hustle, and leadership.  Sean scored 15 goals and added 4 assists as a freshman last year. 

The incoming freshman class will have an immediate impact with most players earning all-league awards from their respective conferences.  Andrew Mount was a 1st team all high desert conference attack selection while Wyatt Knight was a 2nd team all conference.  Also from the High Desert Conference are 2nd team middie Chris Bodnar, and first team defense men James Mount.  Rounding out the class will be middie Forrest Brooks, who was a captain at OES last year, Joey Moseanko, who was an HM LSM from Davis HS, close D Matt Kegel from Redding, CA, Max Raynor Middie from SF, CA, and Patrick Verdun from Forest Grove, OR.   SOU is also planning on 1st team High Desert Attack man Nate Emberton and 1st team defense man Emery Meyer joining the team in the spring. 

Joining this group will be Sr. Tyler Baumann re-joins the raiders, again, after another year off.  Tyler was on the original SOU team in 05, took a year off, played in 07, and took 08 off.  Tyler will bring experience and leadership to the team.

Also returning to the team are Sophmores #3 Steven Davenport (Oregon City), #14 Nate Gregg(Wilson); both started at Middie last year, #18 Jack Pfieffer (Lincoln) who will start on close D this year, Mike Hughes (Wilsonville), and Brandon Thomas. 

SOU will be playing with 3 Seniors, 2 Juniors, 5 Sophmores, and 10 Freshman with the possibility of a few more transferring by the Spring.  SOU is very excited about the upcoming season with the talent and depth of the team.
