SOU improves to 6-3 on the year.Mar. 24, 2008 SOU hosted Humboldt St and San Jose St this weekend. Up first was Humboldt St on Saturday. SOU dominated this game from the beginning. #1 Dan Snell won the opening face-off, led a fast break, and found #22 Drew Arneson on the crease for an easy goal just 10 seconds into the game. SOU added 6 more goals in the first to lead 7-0 after one period of play. SOU continued to dominate the 2nd by adding 8 more goals and continuing to shut out Humboldt. Half-time score of 15-0. The game ended with a score of 24-3. 9 of SOU's 14 players scored points in the game. On Sunday SOU took on San Jose St. This game was an all out physical battle from the opening whistle. SJSU had two returning defensive All-Americans that checked very hard and were quite aggressive. SOU was up to the task and led 6-0 at the half. SOU was led by offensive freshman midfielder #3- Stephen Davenport whom scored 6 goals and dished out 3 assists. #1 Dan Snell led the defense holding SJSU's leading scorer to only one goal. The entire defense played exceptionally well holding SJSU scoreless for 59 minutes of the game. SJSU managed two goals in under a minute in the third period but that was all our defense would allow for the entire game. Thanks to Willamette for helping us host these teams. Also, thanks to both SJSU and Humboldt for coming to Ashland!
