SOU hosts Nevada and PLUFeb. 26, 2008 Last weekend SOU hosted a game between Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) and Nevada-Reno on Saturday. It was the first time in our short history that we've hosted two teams. Nevada, a WCLL Div-1 team, demonstrated good ball control on offense and un-selfish play. They went on to defeat PLU by the score of 14-8. SOU took on the UNR Wolfpack the next day. We started very slowly losing the first period 3-1. We got to within one goal with the score 3-2 for most of the 2nd period. In the last :51 seconds of the half we had multiple defensive breakdowns leading to 3 quick Wolfpack goals leaving us down 6-2 at the half. We started the 2nd half Man-Down for 2 minutes and Nevada capitalized to extend their lead. Both teams added 2 more goals in the 3rd to make the score 9-4 going into the 4th quarter. SOU scored 4 in a row to close the gap to 9-8 with under 4 minutes to go. We then managed to hit the pipe on two of our next shots. We were unable to capitalize on our opportunities and Nevada added a goal with under 2 min's to go for the final score of 10-8. Playing a D1 team is always tough and our team never quit. We were also playing without our Defensive leader Dan Snell leaving us with only 3 subs for the game. Our guys showed a lot of heart and our young team will only learn and improve from this experience. Thanks for coming PLU and UNR.
