SOU host PSU for our home opener

SOU opened our 4 game home stand vs. Port. St. Univ. on Sat. 2/9.  This was the first ever meeting between these two teams.  PSU showed a lot of potential and had some solid players.

Offensively we were led by #6 captain Bubba Van Egdom whom scored 7 goals and dished out 2 assists.  Fellow captain #20 Alex White drew PSU's top defense men which opened up things for the rest of the team.  Alex contributed 2 goals and 1 assist.  #22 Drew Arneson got things going for us on the offensive end by being the emotional leader on the field.  Drew also handed out 3 assists and scored a goal.

Defensively we were led, as usual, by captain #1 Dan Snell on the close defense and #7 Goalie Carter Boggess.  Snell controlled the face-off X, led fast breaks, got an assist, and helped to contain the PSU offense.  Carter made some great saves including one as time expired that was truly amazing.  Hopefully it was caught on a game tape so we can post it.

In the end the final score was SOU 14 PSU 5.

Next up we will be hosting Nevada on Sunday 2/17 at noon.  Nevada is in the WCLL- Div 1 and should be quite a test for our team.
