Complete Team Effort Leads SOU to Victory

Ashland,OR- SOU hosted the University of Portland Pilots Saturday night at Raider Stadium for Sr. Night with a spot in the PNCLL playoffs on the line. 

SOU struck first as Sophomore Midfielder #31 Colin Frank scored unassisted 6 minutes into the game.  #31 struck again 12 minutes into the game and the Raiders Defense shutout the Pilots to make the score 2-0 at the end of the first. 

Portland would stirke just 1:12 into the 2nd qt to pull w/n 1 but then the Raiders would answer with 4 goals of their own and never look back.

It was a balanced win with all offensive players scoring goals led by #31 Frank and #00 Mason with 3 each.  #22 Martin, #8 Melcher, and #11 Running would put 2 goals in each, while #1 Morris and #17 Rivas each tallied a goal.  #1 Morris led the team with 4 assists and dominated the face-off X. 

Defensively the Raiders stepped up as Sophomore Goalie Saechao #24 tallied 16 saves as the Raiders limited the Pilots to tough shots.  The Raiders close defense did not allow a single goal from the Pilots attack and the midfield held the Pilots leading scorer at midfield to just 1 goal. 

Game ball went to Sr. LSM #9 Roger Cuestas for his effort, toughness, caused turnovers, ground balls, and shut down defense.

The win moves the Raiders to 5-3 on the season and gets them into the PNCLL playoffs.

Next up is the regular season finale at Western Oregon with playoff seedings at stake.  Game is on April 20th at 5pm.
