SOU Loses Heartbreaker in Triple OT!Mar. 11, 2019 Ellensburg, WA- Central Washington University handed SOU it's first loss of the season in triple OT Sunday morning. The Raiders started the game off very poorly committing un-forced turnovers on their first 3 possessions and giving up 3 quick goals. After a timeout the Raiders woke up and answered with 2 goals to find themselves down 1 at the end of the first. The 2nd qt. was a defensive battle as CWU found the net one time to take a 4-2 lead at the half. In the 3rd SOU found themselves down 6-3 but went on a 3-1 run to make the score 7-6 going into the final qt. CWU scored two quick ones in the 4th to take a 9-6 lead but the Raiders wouldn't quit. SOU rattled off 3 straight goals including the game tying goal with less then 30 seconds left to force OT. Both defenses stood tall in the first 2 OT's not allowing a single shot. SOU had a golden opporutunity to win the game as they took the face-off and pushed a fast break but were unable to find the back of the net as the CWU goalie made the biggest save of the game. SOU's Goalie #24 Saechao answered with a save of his own but then SOU committed another UFTO, CWU pushed in transition and scored the game winner off of a deflected shot. It was a valiant effort by the Raiders playing with only 12 guys in their 2nd game on the road in less then 24 hours. Hopefully we will meet CWU again in the playoffs.
