SOU Defeats Central Washington University 9-8Feb. 5, 2018 Ashland, OR- The SOU Men's Lacrosse Team hosted the Wildcats from Central Washington on Sunday in Raider Stadium. The Raiders won the contest 9-8 by shutting out CWU in the 4th quarter while scoring 5 times for a thrilling come from behind victory. Central Washington looked like the team that hadn't played the night before as SOU started out very sluggish and sloppy. SOU's freshman Goalie #24 Cameron Saecho really kept the Raiders in the game as he recorded 8 first half saves. Sophomore #94 Connor Mason scored the Raiders first two goals of the game folowed by a career first goal for Sophomore #7 Jacob Kritzer. The Raiders found themselves down 6-4 at the end of the first half. The third qt. belonged to the Wildcats as they shut out the Raiders offense and put in two more goals to lead 8-4 going into the final quarter. SOU showed a ton of heart and character not giving up. Senior #29 Spencer Pregal led the comeback for the Raiders scoring 3 of the next 4 goals with the last one tying the game 8-8. Pregal also assisted Freshman #11 Spencer Burch for his 2nd goal of the game which pulled the Raiders to within 1 goal. Sophomore #2 Auberon Dones scored the game winner on an assist from #94 Mason with exactly two minutes left in the game. The Raiders defense stepped up in the 4th quarter shutting out the Wildcats by causing 4 turnovers and out ground balling CWU in the 4th. Game ball went to Goalie #24 Cameron Saecho who made 5 4th quarter saves including one at the last second to seal the victory for the Raiders. With 13 of the 15 players dressed for this game being under-classmen the future looks bright for the Raiders as long as they can continue to learn how to play together and improve. Next up is a pair of home games; Saturday 2/17 at 1pm vs. San Jose St. University and Sunday 2/18 at 2pm vs. UC-Davis. Both games will be in Raider Stadium and admission if free so come support your Raiders!
