SOU Goes 2-0 on Road vs PNCLL SouthApr. 10, 2017 The SOU Raiders travelled to Portland, OR and Tacoma,WA to take on Portland St. and Pacific Lutheran University this past weekend. SOU won the two games by a combined score of 41-11. Saturday night the Raiders faced off against the Portland St. Vikings. SOU put on a fast break clinic led by the return of Sr. face-off specialist #6 Harley Humphrey who won 18 of the 20 f/o's he took. Freshman Attack #94 Connor Mason was the benefactor of many of these fast breaks scoring 9 goals to tie the All-time record for goals in a game held by Max Raynor. Sr. Captain LSM #23 Taylor Harrison wreaked havoc all over the field causing 13 turnovers, picking up a team record 22 ground balls in one game, scored 1 goal and dished out 1 assist. Final score Raiders 22-7 over PSU. Game ball went to #6 Humphrey for his play at the face-off X after being out for the past 3 games. On Sunday the Raiders took on the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. The Raiders started off slow and sloppy but Sr. Goalie #26 Zack Kowalski stood tall to help the Raiders lead 3-1 after the 1st. From there on it was all Raiders, outscoring the Lutes 7-1 in the 2nd qt. to lead 10-2 at the half. Sr. Captain #23 LSM Harrison continued to show why he is one of the best players in the PNCLL (if not the best) scoring 3 goals, handing out 1 assist, causing 8 turnovers and picking up 14 ground balls. In the end the Raiders won 19-4. Game ball went to Jr. Captain #29 Spencer Pregal who scored 5 goals and handed out two assists. On the weekend Pregal had 11 goals and 6 assists. The wins move SOU to 3-1 in the PNCLL South. The regular season finale for the road warrior Raiders will be at their rival Western Oregon University on Saturday 4/22 at 5pm. A win would lock up the #2 seed out of the PNCLL South for the Raiders.
