SOU Falls to #12 Fullerton
Granite Bay HS, CA- The #14 SOU Raiders took on the #12 Fullerton Titans for their 2nd top 20 opponent in two days on the road. Fullerton proved to be too much for the Raiders as they controlled the time of possession and outshot the Raiders 51 to 34. It was one of those games where almost nothing went right for SOU. Fullerton did a great job of capitalizing on the Raiders 17 un-forced turnovers on the day converting 5 of these into goals for themselves. After leading 3-1 at the end of the first the Titans outscored the Raiders 6-0 in the 2nd to take a 9-1 half time lead. This proved to be too much of a hole for the Raiders to overcome although they never stopped fighting. The 3rd qt. was even as both teams put in 5 goals. The Raiders were led by #17 Garrett Greenway who tallied a hat trickin the quarter. Freshman #19 Jared Wyatt scored his first collegiate goal on a nice feed from #7 Feldman while on EMO. Sr. FOS #6 Harley Humphrey would have to exit the game after winning 11 of 18 face-offs due to an injury. The 4th qt. plaqued the Raiders with more injuries as Sr. Captain Sam Taylor would go down with a leg injury. Sophmore starting midfield #1 Andre Morris went down next with what appeared to be a serious lower leg injury. Starting Defense #12 Humphrey would leave the game with a seperated shoulder shortly afterwards. The bright spot of the 4th would come when #10 Freshman Midfielder Hayden Hupfer would score his first collegiate goal, many more will be coming! Final score 18-7 Fullerton. Next up for the Raiders are the Wildcats from Central Washington University. The young, up and coming Wildcats were one goal away from reaching the PNCLL Final Four last season. This will be their first contest of the Season and SOU better come ready as CWU will surely be hungry. Game will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday 2/19 at Newberg HS just outside of Portland.
