SOU Takes Down Portland St. to Move to 8-2Apr. 6, 2016 The Vikings of Portland St. came to Ashland on Sunday for the first PNCLL South Game of the Season for SOU. SOU started off the game a bit slow but were helped out by two huge de-stickings from Jr. Captain, and returning All-American, #23 Taylor Harrison. First Harrison took the stick out of PSU's best player #21 only to follow it up with one that sent the Vikings Players stick sailing over 10 yards! SOU took that momentum to outscore the Vikings 3-1 in the first. The 2nd qt. was all SOU as the Raiders caught fire scoring 8 goals to PSU's 2 making the score 11-3 at the half. Jr. FOS #6 Harley Humphrey sparked the Raiders offense winning 22-25 Face-offs on the day, and in the 2nd he led the offense to multiple quick goals off of the face-off, first dishing an assist to #22 David Mungeam, followed by Harley taking it himself for the goal.
The Raiders shut out the Vikings in the 3rd while adding 4 more goals to lead 15-3 going into the 4th. LSM #23 Harrison and Freshman #17 Greenway tallied goals in the 4th as PSU added 2 of their own to make the final 17-5. Game ball went to #17 Greenway for tallying 2 goals, 1 assist, and picking up 2 key groundballs. SOU was led by #22 David Mungeam who tallied 5 goals on the day while handing out 2 assists and causing 2 turnovers on the ride. The Raiders move to 8-2 on the year and 1-0 in the PNCLL South Division. Next up is College Of Idaho on Sunday in Caldwell, ID at Noon.
