SOU took on the #12 ranked Western Washington Vikings Saturday at Canby High School.

The first 10 minutes of the game was a defensive battle as neither team could find the back of the net.  Goalie #14 Connor Kelley made two incredible saves in the early going for the Raiders.  WWU would strike first off a failed clear by SOU with 5 minutes to go in the first.  WWU would capatilize again  2 1/2 minutes later off of a defensive breakdown by SOU to lead 2-0 after the first.

SOU's defense stepped up keeping the Vikings off of the scoreboard for the next 19 minutes.  Scott Murphy put the Raiders on the board unassisted 4 1/2 minutes into the 2nd period but that was all SOU managed to get by the WWU goalie making the score 2-1 at the half.

The Defensive battle continued as neither team would score for the first 8 minutes of the 3rd.  Spencer Pregal ended the drought with a great individual effort to tie the game at 2-2.  SOU would strike again as Pregal found Murphy for an EMO goal to give the Raiders the lead and momentum with under 5 minutes to go in the qt.  WWU took it right back though capatilizing on another failed clear by the Raiders scoring on an empty net.  The Vikings struck again with 1:19 seconds to go in the qt. to lead 4-3 going into the final 15 minutes.

WWU outworked the Raiders in the 4th collecting 10 groundballs to the Raiders 3.  Shots were almost even in the 4th as the Raiders took 9 to WWU's 10.  The difference was the placement as WWU put 6 of their 10 shots on goal while the Raiders only put 3 of 9 on goal.  WWU scored another goal off of a failed clear, followed by two doorstep goals, one on a rebound, and the final with 27 seconds to go in the game making the final score 7-3 Vikings.

SOU's Man Down Defense was a bright spot again as the Raiders went 4-4 including being 2 men down.  JR. #6 Harley Humphrey was impressive again at the Face-Off X for the Raiders winning 8 of 13.

The Raiders need to re-group quickly as they finally have another home game, after 7 in a row on the road, as #13 Sierra Nevada comes to Ashland for a game at noon on Sunday in Raider Stadium.
