SOU Matches the 2009 Team for Best Start at 7-0Mar. 1, 2016 On Sunday SOU defeated the University of Puget Sound to move to 7-0 on the season, a record only achieved by the 2009 squad. SOU dominated the game from the beginning as Jr. FOS #6 Harley Humphrey won all 8 face-offs in the first qt., all 13 in the first half, and went 20/23 on the day at the X. UPS came into the game with a surprising win over D1 Washington St. SOU outshot UPS 18-1 in the first qt. scoring on 7 of the shots. SOU added 5 more in the 2nd qt. to lead 12-0 at the half. SOU's Man Down Defense continued to be stellar stopping UPS on all 5 of their EMO opportunities. SOU put in 7 more in the 3rd qt. to lead 19-0, and added one more in the 4th to win 20-0. SOU's defense earned the first shut out victory since the 2010 season. Three Raiders tallied 6 points on the day; #4 Ari Feldman with 4 goals, 2 assits, #22 David Mungeam with 3 goals, 3 assists, and #26 Sr. Captain Scott Murphy with 1 goal and 5 assists. The Raiders offense continued to demonstrate great balance as 9 players scored goals. Game ball goes to Sr. Captain #57 Ian Wilborn for his leadership, attitude, and work ethic throughout the game. The most impressive part of the Raiders 7-0 start is that 6 of the games have been on the road with only the first game being at home. Next up for the Raiders is another road game vs. #11 Western Washington University. The game will be played at Canby High School on Saturday March 12th.
