SOU Kicks Off Season With 12-2 Win At Home
SOU Men's Lacrosse took on Humboldt St. University to kick off the 2016 Season on Saturday. SOU started the scoring on an early EMO play when Freshman Garrett Greenway scored on his first ever shot in College. Another newcomer to the Raiders scored on his first ever shot in College as Scott Comer put the Raiders up 2-0. SOU would put in two more goals in the first quarter, one by Jr. Middie Ari Feldman followed by a So. Attack Spencer Pregal, one of his 3 goals while only playing the first half of the game. Jr. FOS Harley Humphrey won 12 of the 16 Face-offs which he took which helped SOU control the ball. Sr. Defenseman #2 Sam Taylor was dominant causing 13 Turnovers (a SOU record for one game) while collecting 3 GB's. SOU continued to dominate the second qt scoring 5 times starting out with Freshman Middie #1 Andre Morris unassisted. The Raiders defense shut down the Hogs to lead 9-0 at the half. The Raiders outscored Humboldt 3-1 in the 3rd as Scott Comer scored his 2nd on the day and dished out an assist. Humboldt St. added a goal in the 4th to make the Final score 12-2 SOU! Game ball went to Scott Comer. Next up for the Raiders is San Jose St. University Saturday in San Jose. As always, hats off to Humboldt St. as they play physical, with class, and are very well coached.
