Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Jul. 3, 2010

Former assistant coach, previous player and Santa Clara alumni, Jennifer Lee, will take over the reigns as Head Coach of the Santa Clara Women's Lacrosse Team for the 2011 season and beyond.  Jen played for four years at Santa Clara as a defender and graduated in 2006.  During her playing years at SCU, Jen was a First Team WDIA All American, 2006 National Defender of the Year, 3-time WWLL All Star and team captain.  Jen returned to the team at the end of 2008 and has served as a defensive assistant up until now.

Jen will now take over the reigns after 9-year Head Coach, Brendan O'Brien, announced in Arizona that he would not be returning to the team for the 2011 season because his wife expecting a baby in July.  During Brendan's nine year's as coach the team attended the WWLL playoffs nine out of nine seasons, attended the WDIA National Tournament six out of the nine seasons, including its best finish being a loss in the 2004 National Championship game.   When asked about leaving the team he said "I would like to thank all those players, alumni, parents and friends who supported the team over the years.  The team's success was largely a byproduct of those who supported it year in and year out.  I encourage players and alum to continue to stay involved with the program to maintain that support going forward."

The Broncos plan to return 13 players from last year's roster, including four seniors.  Practices begin in early October for the Broncos, so we will see you in a few months when Fall Ball kicks off!!!
