Santa Clara Suffers First Loss of the Season in Double OTApr. 4, 2010 The Santa Clara Broncos suffered their first loss of the season in double overtime at the hands of the visiting UC Davis Aggies. Saturday's game was a back and forth game with the score being tied on nine separate occasions. The Broncos held the lead at half at 8-6 and would lead 9-6 early in the second half but the Aggies went on a six-goal scoring run early in the second half that turned the game from a 10-8 Bronco lead to a 14-10 Aggie comeback. The Aggies consistenly controlled the ground ball and draw control war throughout the second half allowing for long controlled offensive possessions. The Broncos answered the Aggies scoring barrage with four unanswered goals of their own to tie the game with just over eight minutes remaining. The Aggies would then score on a free position shot with 5:14 remaining. The Broncos answered with two straight goals to take a 16-15 lead with 2:37 remaining. The Aggies tied it on another free position shot with 1:46 remaining in the game. The game then went to its first overtime with either team failing to score. The game then went to its second overtime (sudden death). The Aggies won possession of the draw held for a long possession and were awarded another free position shot that they again converted on and ultimately gave them the victory.
