Santa Clara Finishes the 2009 Season

Santa Clara finished the 2009 season with an 18-6 overall record after losing to the Michigan Wolverines in the 5th/6th place game at the WDIA National Championship Tournament last weekend.  Despite the loss the Broncos finished the 2009 season with a positive note having four players receiving first team honors on the WDIA All-American team.  Players receiving awards at this year's tournament include:

WDIA - First Team All-American's

• Senior - Sarah Herscovici (Defense)
• Junior - Krista Shaw (Midfield)
• Sophomore - Gracie Binder (Attack)
• Sophomore - Renee Eligio (Goalie)

WDIA All-Tournament Team

• Junior - Jenna Choquette (Attack)

WDIA Positional Player Awards

• Junior - Krista Shaw (WDIA Midfielder of the Year)
• Sophomore - Renee Eligio (WDIA Goalie of the Year)

With the 2009 season now finished Santa Clara will say goodbye to three incredible seniors (Margaux Chan, Sarah Herscovici and Sarah Merry) as they move on through graduation and beyond.  They've left a lasting mark on the team over the past four years and will be missed.  Many thanks to them and their families for their support of the team.

Last, the players and coaches would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our supporters during the course of the 2009 season.  Your continued support of the team on and off of the field makes a real impact on the program.  Thank you again and we hope to see you on the sidelines in 2010.
