It's been a long day and its close to midnight so this update will be short and sweet...

The Broncos defeated unranked UConn today by a margin of 24-10.  Santa Clara struggled on defense in the later portion of the first half thereby allowing the Huskies to get back into the game.  Santa Clara led by a 9-2 margin when the Huskies scored three straight goals.  The Huskies would score another three unanswered goals just prior to half as frustrations mounted with the Bronco defense.  At halftime, the Broncos led 12-7 but they were furious at themselves over a poor start to the game.  In the second half, they would gather their composure and shore up their issues on defense to hold the Huskies to only 10 goals on the game.  The Bronco offense scored a total of 24 goals to set the record for most goals in a game by a team at the WDIA National Tournament.  That record has stood for eight years held by Navy who scored 23 back in 2001.

Santa Clara moves on to play the University of Florida tomorrow morning at 9:00am.  All tournament games are being moved up 1 hr tomorrow to accommodate the heat.

This evening was the WDIA Awards Banquet.  Santa Clara had four players receive All-American honors at tonight's event.
