Santa Clara defeated the USC Trojans by a margin of 18-8 this past Saturday.  USC scored the first goal of match after just 31 seconds had run off of the clock.  The Broncos were well positioned to take the first draw control but sophomore Victoria Verstegan of USC picked up the ball and made quick pass to senior Sarah Heinbigner who scored on a breakaway to catch the Bronco defense sleeping.  Santa Clara quickly collected their composure and scored just 52 seconds later off of an unassisted drive by junior Krista Shaw (4g, 0a).  Shaw's goal would mark the beginning of a 12 goal scoring run by the Broncos to take a 12-1 lead and eventual 13-3 lead at half and 18-8 final.

The Broncos improve to 7-1 as USC drops to 3-5 on the season.  Next up for the Broncos will be #5 UC Santa Barbara this Sunday.
