In probably the worst conditions since the 2005 Nationals trip to Minnesota where the Broncos nearly froze to death, the Broncos defeated the UC Davis Aggies by a score of 11-9 today.  Cold rain and wind overwhelmed the playing conditions on Sunday as both teams struggled to find any sort of groove on a field that was drenched with water and mud.

The Broncos took and early 3-0 lead by dominating the initial draw controls in the midfield.  The Broncos led by a score of 6-3 before the Aggies scored on two consecutive free position shots just prior to half.  Both teams trounced around in the second half struggling to find any sort of warmth or let up in the weather.  The Aggies scored the first two of the second half to take a 7-6 lead until the Broncos went on a four goal scoring run led by the strong play of freshman Maria Pestana (2g/2a) and senior Jenna Choquette (2g/0a).  The Broncos ultimately won the contest by an 11-9 margin despite their inability to consistently clear the ball and limit their unforced turnovers in horrible conditions.

The Broncos are hoping for sunnier skies this weekend when they come home to play the USC Trojans...weather permitting.
