"Santa Clara keeps rolling along, this time hammering Minnesota-Duluth, 19-1" said Jac Coyne of Lacrosse Magazine on his Santa Barbara Blog which covered the Santa Barbara Shootout this past weekend.

The Broncos posted a 4-0 record at the Shootout to get their wheels back on track after suffering an overtime loss to rival UCLA last Sunday.   Their tournament schedule included three ranked opponents beginning with the preseason #15 Brigham Young on Friday night.  After leading at half 5-3, the Broncos took down the Cougars by an 8-6 final.

Next up for the Broncos was the defending WDIA National Champions, Colorado State.

"After trailing 6-1 after one half, Colorado State came out in the second and gave Santa Clara it's biggest punch, but the Broncos were able to absorb the blow and post the 8-6 upset victory over the defending national champs..." sophomore goalie Renee Eligio "can dominate a game.  She did just that, making several huge saves along the way to the win. O'Brien gave her the game ball in the team huddle afterwards." said Jac Coyne.

Colorado State and BYU proved to be the Broncos toughest opponents of the weekend and both will likely be ranked in the top 10 of the first regular season poll expected out this Wednesday.  Last, the Broncos took down Minnesota-Duluth 19-1 and the University of Georgia 15-3 to finish off their weekend of games.

Next up for the Broncos will be their first divisional match up against UC Davis.  This annual match up is always a close game so look for an exciting weekend against the Aggies this Sunday in Davis.
