Big Weekend for the BroncosFeb. 11, 2009 Fresh off of a frustrating 13-10 OT loss to rival UCLA this past Sunday the Broncos look to regroup at the 21st Annual Santa Barbara Shootout. The Broncos, 1-1 on the season, will play four games in the course of three days. Three of their four opponents are ranked in the top 15 of Lacrosse Magazine's 2009 Preseason poll. Their first game will be against #15 Brigham Young on Friday night followed by two games on Saturday. Saturday's games begin at 2:00pm versus the current defending WDIA national champion #1 Colorado State and then later that evening versus unranked Minnesota-Duluth at 8:15pm. The Broncos hope to avenge last year's 8-7 loss to CSU at the Santa Barbara Shootout where with the score tied and just under 1:34 remaining, CSU won the final draw of the game and held the ball for the final shot. CSU scored the go ahead goal with 1/2 of one second remaining in the game and handed the Broncos their first loss of the season. Finally, the Broncos face the University of Georgia, a team they have never faced, in the final game of the tournament. The full tournament schedule is posted on the Shootout Page of the UCSB website. Please check back for updates as rain is in the forecast for the entire weekend. Go Broncos!!!
