The Broncos also return two of their top three point leaders from 2008 in juniors Krista Shaw (Denver, CO) and Jenna Choquette (North Kingstown, RI) to lead this year's offense. Shaw, a first-team All-American and WDIA Midfielder of the Year 2008 -- led Santa Clara with 86 points on 77 goals and 9 assists. The 2009 defense will be led by seniors Sarah Herscovici (Littleton, CO) and Margaux Chan (Seattle, WA) as well as sophomore goalie Renee Eligio (So. San Francisco, CA). They hope to improve on their 7.65 goals against/game average from 2008 Lastly, the Broncos welcome six new freshmen to this year's squad to hopefully make an immediate impact on the field. The Broncos open the season at home versus UC Berkeley Club on February 7th and will also travel to two tournaments during the course of the upcoming season. The first will be the Santa Barbara Shootout in mid February and the second in late March in Pittsburgh, PA. The Broncos will be returning 14 of 22 players from last year's roster to battle in the upcoming 2009 season and have been ranked 7th in Lacrosse Magazine's recently released WDIA Preseason Ranking.
