Broncos Go 4-1 at the ShootoutFeb. 18, 2008 Santa Clara completed its 5th game in three days to finish the weekend with a 4-1 record at the 20th Annual Santa Barbara Shootout. This year's tournament included a total of 19 WDIA teams from around the country and proved to be an impressive weekend of college lacrosse. After a tough last second loss to Colorado State on Saturday afternoon, the Broncos rebounded Sunday morning against Texas A&M. Santa Clara took down the Aggies by a 14-2 margin which then led to a late afternoon match up against the University of Rhode Island. Coming into the game, Rhode Island had gone 3-0 on the weekend by defeating USC, Texas A&M and UC Davis. The Broncos tired legs started slow by giving up the first two of three goals of the contest but the Broncos would eventually lead 8-4 at half and finish RI off by a 14-5 margin to give them their first loss of the weekend. The Broncos (5-1 overall) will move on to face rival UCLA this weekend in a game that will no doubt be an exciting game to watch. Santa Clara would like to thank UC Santa Barbara for hosting a great weekend of lacrosse.
