Santa Clara Takes Down the Ducks

On the opening night of the 2008 Santa Barbara Shootout, Santa Clara defeated the Oregon Ducks in the first of 5 games in one weekend. After letting up the opening goal of the game the Broncos settled down and answered with six goals of their own. The Broncos lead 10-3 at half and ultimately defeated the unranked Ducks by a final score of 18-6. Leading all scorers in today's game was sophomore standout Lucy Kelly (Denver, CO) who scored four goals and added two assists. Also, notable performances on defense in today's game were put in by sophomores Maggie Spreitzer (Port Washington, NY) and Jamie Staudt (Lake Bluff, IL).

The Broncos, now 2-0, will face off against #4 Brigham Young Cougars tomorrow morning and later face the #2 Colorado State Rams that afternoon.
