Broncos Kick Off the Season

Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Feb. 10, 2016

The Broncos' season commenced this past Saturday with our first game against Chico State. The Wildcats provided us with a fun, competitive game. It took a little for the Broncos to warm up at the beginning, but after a time out they were able to pick up the intensity, leaving the field at half time up 10-3. The Broncos were able to maintain their lead throughout the rest of the game and at the end the Broncos came out on top, beating Chico 16-5. The Broncos worked together to pull off their first victory of the season, spreading the love with 11 different players contributing goals. But the attackers would not have been able to put the ball in the back of the net without the help of a solid defense.

With our first game and another week of practices under our belt, the Broncos are ready for the upcoming weekend at the Santa Barbara Shoutout. The Broncos will be facing some stiff compeition this weekend playing Michigan, the defending national champs, Virginia, Pittsburg, and Arizona State. We are excited to put our hard work we have put in over the past few months to the test and leave everything on the field.

On another note, the Broncos have taken on the YardsforYeardly challenge this season to help raise awareness to end relationship violence. By doing so, as a team we have committed to run 1 million yards over the span of 30 practices, which means about 25 miles per player. Our team has currently run 533,810 yards, which means we are over halfway to achieving our goal! We will continue to post updates on our progress towards our goal and will also continue to post on twitter and instagram as well, so keep checking back to stay in the loop!

It's a great day to be a bronco!
