Nationals Recap - Jul 26, 2016
Greetings Bronco fans!! Thank you to all of you for all the love and support we had at Nationals. We had had an amazing fan group travel with us to the WCLA National tournament. The national tournament was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where many of us experienced our first east coast summer thunderstorm and as a team we discovered that a pregame dance party may be our new key to success! We lost our first game to University Colorado, Boulder, but the next day we beat JMU 18-12 in a rainy battle. We ultimately redeemed ourselves from tough losses in the regular season with sweet victories over our league rivals Cal Poly and UCLA and finished the tournament as the highest ranked team from the West.
From Playoffs to Nationals - Apr 19, 2016
The Broncos wrapped up their regular season on Sunday 4/10 with a tough away game against Cal Poly. The Broncos fought hard, but at the end of the day were unable to come out on top.
This past weekend the Broncos headed down to Santa Barbara as the number 3 seed for the WWLL playoffs. The Broncos started off the weekend on a positive note with a strong win over USD 15-10. Then the Broncos went on to face Cal Poly later that day. Again, it was a tough fight until the last seconds but Cal Poly walked away with the win. On Sunday, the Broncos faced UCSB in the consolation game. It was a very hard fought game again until the final seconds, but the Broncos' hard work payed off and they they won 12-11, earning them 3rd in the league.
We have received a bid to the 2016 National tournament and will be flying out to North Carolina to compete from May 2-7. The Broncos are super excited to have the chance to play four talented teams from across the nation throughout the week and will be focused on preparing these next two weeks. We are ready to come out strong and show everyone what Santa Clara lacrosse truly is.
As many know, the road to nationals can be a little pricey, so we will be fundraising at multiple locations such as Mission City Creamery, Pizza My Heart, and Tabling in Benson. Keep checking in on our twitter and Instagram to stay up to date with everything happening!
It's Always a Great Day to be a BRONCO!
Broncos Kick Off the Season - Feb 10, 2016
The Broncos' season commenced this past Saturday with our first game against Chico State. The Wildcats provided us with a fun, competitive game. It took a little for the Broncos to warm up at the beginning, but after a time out they were able to pick up the intensity, leaving the field at half time up 10-3. The Broncos were able to maintain their lead throughout the rest of the game and at the end the Broncos came out on top, beating Chico 16-5. The Broncos worked together to pull off their first victory of the season, spreading the love with 11 different players contributing goals. But the attackers would not have been able to put the ball in the back of the net without the help of a solid defense.
With our first game and another week of practices under our belt, the Broncos are ready for the upcoming weekend at the Santa Barbara Shoutout. The Broncos will be facing some stiff compeition this weekend playing Michigan, the defending national champs, Virginia, Pittsburg, and Arizona State. We are excited to put our hard work we have put in over the past few months to the test and leave everything on the field.
On another note, the Broncos have taken on the YardsforYeardly challenge this season to help raise awareness to end relationship violence. By doing so, as a team we have committed to run 1 million yards over the span of 30 practices, which means about 25 miles per player. Our team has currently run 533,810 yards, which means we are over halfway to achieving our goal! We will continue to post updates on our progress towards our goal and will also continue to post on twitter and instagram as well, so keep checking back to stay in the loop!
It's a great day to be a bronco!
Alumni Game 2015 - Oct 10, 2015
Following tradition, past and current broncos came together out on Bellomy field Saturday morning. It was a hard fought match, but in the end the alumni pulled off a 13-7 win over the current players. The level of talent on the alumni side was inspiring to see and we can't wait to add to the legacy of this progam during the upcoming season. A big thank you to everyone who came out to make the day so much fun! We are so grateful for the amazing alumni support. It's always a great day to be a bronco!!
