Sorry this article has taken so long to get posted. It was written and lost a couple of times  due to glitches and it has been a busy time as a parent of a graduating senior and with work committments.

The Raiders faced White Bear Lake in the Section 4 Quarter-Final game and lost, 1-19, on June 2nd in White Bear Lake after being beaten there earlier in the season.

The Bears took advantage of knowing their spots on their home field and had an excellent on-goal percentage on their shots, hitting corners and edges from difficult angles and making no-look shots despite an aggressive defense and our usually reliable goalkeeping. They also kept their starters in for the entire game, even after the score became one-sided, scoring 9 goals in the second half while the Raiders took only 2 shots on goal in the second half (of 6 total in the game).

The Raiders were called for 6 penalties (WBL called for only 3) and again struggled with faceoffs (1 of about 22), which provided WBL with a lot of extra opportunities on offense.

Drew Liberkowski scored the Raiders goal in the second quarter using a technique we saw often during the season. He used quick turns and shrugged off abuse from defenders to work his way from the back of the crease to the front and make the shot from close range.

The Raiders showed good sportsmanship throughout the season, including the final game, and we should be proud of our boys and team. They played the eventual Section-winning Tartan team to a tie at the half on their home field, and gave the always-tough East Ridge team quite a scare. We lost 3 one-goal-difference games (2 of those in overtime), which could have made a big difference in our season record had they gone the other way, and several players were nominated for or received Section honors.
