Roseville Comeback 9-8 Win vs CDH on Senior Night
The Good Pellas vocal group kicked Senior Night off right with a great rendition of the National Anthem, and a very nice ceremony was held at halftime to honor the Roseville senior players and managers and their parents. The Cretin Durham Hall Raiders had a lead or tie until nearly 3 minutes into the 4th quarter, when Senior Captain Jeremy Suciu got his 3rd goal of the night, on an assist from Senior Captian Sam Radovich. Both of Suciu's earlier goals were on assists from Senior Captain Drew Liberkowski, who had 4 total assists on the night. Liberkowski's other assists were on goals scored by Junior Attackman Mitch Olesen. Less than 80 seconds after getting their first lead, however the Roseville team was down again by a goal, as CDH scored directly of the following faceoff, and then again on a power play due to a Roseville foul on that goal. Roseville finally tied it up again on a power play goal (Liberkowski for his 3rd goal, on an assist from Radovich, his 2nd), with just 1:23 left on the clock. Roseville's Radovich got the game winning goal with 8 seconds left in the game. Critically, Roseville won the final 2 face-offs of the game to get the victory. A game ejection penalty for CDH Goalie Eddie Gaertner was called after the game ended for attacking a Roseville player, which will affect CDH's next game. (A few minor penalties were called for others invovled, but these won't affect the next game.) Roseville was 2-4 on the power play, and did a somewhat better job on faceoffs, estimated at 8 for 17, as many of the faceoffs turned into ground ball scrambles, rather than clean wins. Shots on goal were pretty even, estimated at around 18 each, with some not recorded in the box score, and more than half of Roseville's SOG's coming in the 4th quarter. Both teams' defenses showed great plays and takeaways at times but also a few cracks.
