PSU No. 5 in NCAA April 29 RPI Rankings

Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Apr. 29, 2013

Penn State comes in at No. 5 in this week's official NCAA RPI rankings.  RPI stands for Ratings Percentage Index, and is used to rank sports teams based upon a team's wins and losses and its strength of schedule. The formula comprises a team's winning percentage, the winning percentage of that team's opponents, and their opponents' opponents. RPI is used as an “organizational tool” and determiner of quality wins when the NCAA Championship Committee selects the eight at-large bids, seeds and pairings on May 5.
