Penn State Featured Again in Tuesday Takeaways

For the second straight week, Penn State has been featured in Tuesday Takeaways in Inside Lacrosse. Here is what Mark Dixon had to say this week about the Nittany Lions:

What Happened: Notre Dame over Penn State 10-9 in OT

Takeaway: A fantastic game between two teams coming off of resounding, impressive wins over Top 10 foes. Notre Dame was looking for a little revenge after falling in overtime last season to the Nittany Lions by a count of 4-3. Down by one with 24 seconds left, the Fighting Irish scored two goals in six seconds to take a 9-8 lead. Remarkably, Penn State answered with a Tom LaCrosse tally with less than a second remaining on the clock to force the "fifth quarter." In overtime, freshman Matt Kavanagh took a Ryan Foley feed to can the game winner and give the Irish the well earned W. Bottom line, these are two teams typically known for their defenses showing potent offensive punch. What's more, week to week different players are having big games, a sign of balance and confidence in matchup advantage. In a game featuring arguably the game's two best goalies in John Kemp and Austin Kaut (10 saves each) the offenses stole the show and provided for some great theater in State College.
