1) What is a “club” sport?

As a “club” sport, the cost of fielding a team is supported entirely by player fees and club fundraisers, not by the Pickerington Local School District.  The Pickerington Lacrosse Association
Is a parent board of directors that plans and manages the budget and activities to fund our high school lacrosse teams.  Players’ fees pay the coaches’ salaries, referees, transportation costs, trainers, ongoing training for coaches, uniforms and equipment, and field usage/maintenance. Athletes are eligible to receive Pickerington High School “letters” for participating in Lacrosse.

3) What is the best method to stay informed?

The website at www.pickeringtonlax.com  is our primary form of communication.  Rely on the website for information from the parent board,  practice and game schedules,  Team rosters, away game directions, and team picture schedule will be posted on the individual team websites when available.


4) Why does my player have to have a US Lacrosse Membership number?

This year, parents will be responsible for registering each player for membership with US Lacrosse at www.uslacrosse.org by clicking on the JOIN NOW link.  US Lacrosse Membership is mandatory as it provides the required insurance coverage for your child to play PHS club lacrosse.  You must record your player’s US Lacrosse Membership number on the PLA Registration and Emergency Medical Release form or it cannot be considered complete.


5) What player equipment is required? 

Boys players are required to purchase their own stick, gloves, arm/elbow pads, and mouth piece.   Girls players are required to provide their own stick, protective eye goggles, and mouth piece.


6) When does the pre-season begin?  

Pre-season or off-season conditioning will begin in the late fall.   Please check the website for updates.


7) When do outdoor practices begin?  

Official team practices will begin late February.


8) Does participating on the lacrosse teams count toward a Physical Education credit?

No, lacrosse does not count towards a Physical Education credit.  Be sure to talk with your child's counselor to ensure they've got their PE credits. 

9) How do I sign up to volunteer? 

PLA needs many volunteers!  Please email your interest to:  picklaxboosterclub@yahoo.com for the booster club/fundraising and pickeringtonlaxassociation@gmail.com for interests in serving on the board
