The Wolves beat Hilliard Davidson 14-6 in their league finale May 11 to tie three-time defending Division I state champion Upper Arlington for first in the OCC-Buckeye for the second year in a row.

Nicholas Clay scored three goals and Tyler Roe scored two for Kilbourne, which finished 6-1 in the OCC-Buckeye and was 12-3 overall before playing Columbus Academy on May 12.

"To win our conference is always what we look for," coach Drew May said.

May said his team will need to continue to play strong defense to be successful in the Division I Central Region tournament. The tournament draw is Sunday, May 17.

Kilbourne's defense is led by Michael Calvert, Alex Cash, Jack Trombetti and Mike Viera.

Viera, attacker Jared Happ, midfielder Joe Davis and goalie Chris Reynolds all were named first-team all-Midwest this year.

"We graduated a lot of offensive firepower from last year's team, but we knew that our defense would keep us in every ballgame this year," May said. "When we beat Carmel (Ind.) 8-6 (on May 1), we just grinded it out, and that style of win typifies the kind of team we have. We've been leaning on our defense quite a bit and we'll continue to do so through the rest of the season."
